The Austin Peay 状态 University and Clarksville-Montgomery 县 School System Teacher Residency 程序成为了 first registered apprenticeship 程序 for teaching in the country in January 2022. Tennessee is the first state nationwide to sponsor Teacher Occupation Apprenticeship 程序s. This model assists in addressing teacher shortages and building the talent pipeline.

What is the Grow Your Own Teacher Residency?

This 程序 is a three-year experience available to new or upcoming high 学校 graduates, as well as classified employees or community members (without a bachelor's degree). Once accepted into the 程序, the student works as a teacher resident in a local 学区. Students are paid a salary by the 学区 and attend college 不花钱. Tuition and books are covered for participants. Throughout the three-year 程序, teacher residents are paired with an experienced mentor teacher in their 学校.
